Dream with Me

CONCERT INTRODUCTION

Lance Hoffman 2018

(Our next song) “Dream With Me” is from a 1950 musical adaptation of Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, with music and lyrics by Leonard Bernstein.

This song and others were dropped from the show before production -- partially to accommodate the limited vocal ranges of the principals, who included Boris Karloff, an actor known for his roles in horror films.  But this beautiful song has a soaring line of operatic breadth, and was rediscovered fifty years later.

It sounds far more like Disney that Bernstein!

Who has the nerve/cheek to ruin this lovely song by imposing their own misguided arrangement on it!It was a straight simple song, now it has become a muddied garbled version, indeed their diction is so bad we cannot clearly hear the words!Stick to the original.
